Mechanical Characterization of Shape Memory Alloys using Nanoindentation
Nanoindentation can be used to determine the mechanical properties of very small samples. This is particularly useful when dealing with materials for which large samples are not readily available, such as bulk metallic glasses or shape memory alloys. The reproducibility of nanoindentation and its ability to provide qualitative and quantitative results make nanoindentation an ideal tool for studying mechanical properties of materials.
