Research Projects
Research projects available to REU students are summarized according to each participating faculty member with specific outcomes. Most of the projects are funded by Federal, Industry or University. Students accepted in the program will be provided with a list of projects to choose from. Each student participant will be asked to choose their top three projects. Upon acceptance in the REU program the Site Coordinator will have the Research Advisor contact the student by phone or email directly to discuss the research project. A detailed plan is outlined in the student recruitment and selection. Over the next two years both AMPAC and other associated departments are expected to hire 5-6 faculty in Nanotechnology area and therefore will be able to offer a wider selection of projects. The research will be carried under the supervision of the faculty and their graduate students in a rich, collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Finally, students will take with them a knowledge base in nanoscale science and technology. Weekly group meetings will provide a supportive forum for undergraduates to learn and practice scientific communication. Examples of potential engineering research projects in a broader scale of Nanotechnology include Materials Processing, Applications, Characterization and Property Evaluation.
