Research Projects
In-situ Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of Nanoparticle Reactions
Faculty Mentors: Prof. Alfons Shulte
Research DescriptionNanoparticle based on Cerium or Tin oxides have generated much interest for
catalytic and sensor applications due to their ability to easily absorb and
release gases. The student will employ a site-specific technique,
Micro-Raman spectroscopy, to probe in-situ molecular changes near the metal
ion during exposure to hydrogen and oxygen.
